"What the child can do in cooperation today, he can do alone tomorrow" -- Lev Semonovich Vygotsky

Thank you for visiting my page. Here is some information about me. I have been teaching for nineteen fabulous years, and I'm very excited about starting another wonderful year of learning. Each day, it is my intent to create and foster a love of reading, writing and learning for my students. I strive to make each and every class session not only an informative one, but also one that delivers fun and high interest activities for my students. As a Fort Bend Writing Institute (ABYDOS) trained teacher, I look forward to facilitating lessons based on collaborative learning, higher-level thinking skills and discovery. In addition, I hope to create and maintain an environment in my classroom where students can comfortably work together to analyze their writing pieces, share their creations with confidence, proudly express their creativity and demonstrate a passionate love for ELA in general. This will be a great year! I appreciate the awesome opportunity to teach your child. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have regarding your child's progress.

Week of September 5

Students will enter the third week of their unit of study on the short story and the personal narrative. In reading, our objectives will be to learn the influence of setting on plot development, the application of the narrative structure to poetry, and the style of the personal essay. Students will be periodically evaluated on their comprehension of selections from the literature reader. In writing, the students will revise the rough drafts of their personal narrative. Minilessons will be followed by independent drafting time and short periods of peer conferences to share work in process. By the end of the week, students should be ready to submit their revisions to their personal narrative for evaluation.
