Thank you for visiting my page. Here is some information about me. I have been teaching for nineteen fabulous years, and I'm very excited about starting another wonderful year of learning. Each day, it is my intent to create and foster a love of reading, writing and learning for my students. I strive to make each and every class session not only an informative one, but also one that delivers fun and high interest activities for my students. As a Fort Bend Writing Institute (ABYDOS) trained teacher, I look forward to facilitating lessons based on collaborative learning, higher-level thinking skills and discovery. In addition, I hope to create and maintain an environment in my classroom where students can comfortably work together to analyze their writing pieces, share their creations with confidence, proudly express their creativity and demonstrate a passionate love for ELA in general. We are off to a great start!

Thank-you, parents, for doing your homework and adding yourselves to our distribution list! The students in ELA will begin their year with a unit of study on the short story and the personal narrative. Our objectives will be to learn the structure of a story plot, to write a personal narrative, and to improve our reading comprehension by making personal connections to the stories and memoirs we are reading. During the week of August 29th, we will study the short story, “Seventh Grade,” by Gary Soto, diagram its plot, and use our knowledge of plot structure to plan and create a first draft of a personal narrative. The students will be evaluated on their comprehension of Gary Soto’s short story and on their prewriting and rough draft of their personal narrative.
